London, UK – Sonnedix, a leading renewable energy producer with over 3GW of operating capacity, has signed its first Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Framework Agreement with Eiffage, one of Europe’s leading construction and concession companies, through its Spanish brand, Eiffage Energia Sistemas.

Under the Framework Agreement, construction activities for Sonnedix’s pipeline of projects in Spain, Italy, and Portugal will be delivered under standardised general terms and conditions, which will apply to all future EPC agreements with Eiffage Energia Sistemas. Across these markets, Sonnedix currently has 858MW of renewable energy projects under construction and a further development pipeline of 1.72GW.

The Framework Agreement, covering legal, technical, and commercial terms and conditions, allows Sonnedix to be more nimble and efficient in its operations. Sonnedix will be able to streamline and optimize its growth and pipeline conversion by reducing the amount of time and resources spent obtaining standalone EPC Agreements, which can take between two-three months to close.

Sonnedix’s Global Head of Engineering & Construction, Jorge Amiano, said:

“This first of its kind agreement will significantly reduce our negotiation efforts, enabling Sonnedix to fast track the construction of our pipeline of projects in southern Europe. While supply chain Framework Agreements are common, EPCs are normally done on a project-by-project basis. By streamlining this process, Sonnedix is ensuring reliability and certainty whilst increasing competitiveness.”

Sonnedix’s CEO, Axel Thiemann, said:

“This innovative initiative will see us partner with a trusted EPC contractor to help us convert our huge pipeline of renewable energy projects. Eiffage has a strong track record in our key markets of Spain, Italy, and Portugal, and is exactly the type of company we look to build long-term partnerships with.”

Eiffage Energia Sistemas’ CEO, Jose Manuel Martinez, said:

“This agreement, with a leading global renewable energy provider, is a big achievement for Eiffage Energía Sistemas. It highlights our role as one of the main EPC companies worldwide and one of the first companies in the Spanish renewables sector.”

Eiffage Energia Sistemas’ International and Renewable Department Director, Daniel Garrido, said:

“Both experience and technical knowledge of Eiffage Energia Sistemas have been essential in the successful construction of a 300MW portfolio with Sonnedix in Spain. This agreement demonstrates collaboration between our companies and their shared commitment to the energy transition.”
