What would you make to protect life on this planet? When the KID Museum asked this question to middle school students across the DC region, around 1,500 kids responded. They put their heads together, got creative, and transformed cardboard and knickknacks into models of innovative devices that could better our world. From an Optimus Prime-like pollinator to a mold diffuser and something entitled ‘‘The Fish Prison,’’ these kids proved that our problem solvers of tomorrow are both creative and driven to work towards a bright future.

This challenge was part of the ‘’Invent the Future’’ program hosted by the museum. Sonnedix helped sponsor the program alongside Google and Pepco. Our support aligns with Sonnedix’s educational initiatives and enabled 1,509 middle school students to participate in ‘’Invent the Future.’’

As part of the program, kids went on field trips to the museum, learned to work collaboratively, and had access to an invention studio, building workshops, and lessons about the engineering design process. During the program’s final showcase event, Sonnedix team members Shari Ben Mousa, Dijana Vlaisavljevic, and Irune Elorz further contributed by being volunteer judges. They interacted directly with students about their ideas and assessed their prototype inventions.

All students learned from field trips and workshops, connected with professionals from various fields, and were encouraged to be inventive in a way that protects life on our planet.

We are proud to have supported a program that educates, inspires, and encourages the problem solvers of tomorrow.
