MILAN, Italy – Sonnedix, the global independent solar power producer (IPP), has completed the acquisition of two solar PV plants from Glaros S.r.l and Leonardo Energy Ltd.

The 2.0 MW portfolio is under the Italian Conto Energia (feed-in tariff) scheme and has been in operations since 2011. The ground-mounted solar PV plants are all located in the Emilia Romagna region in northern Italy.

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, said: “Through these acquisitions, we continue moving further towards our goal of building a bright future. During 2020, we’ve been able to keep focused on our sustainable growth goals. We’ve expanded our footprint in the Italian market in line with our long-term commitment to provide a reliable supply of clean electricity to our communities and playing an active role in pushing the energy transition forward.”

The acquisition demonstrates the growth capacity of the solar IPP, which has raised its operating capacity in Italy to 249.5 MW with this latest acquisition. Sonnedix continues to actively seek opportunities to expand its presence in this market, and globally, through acquisitions and development of solar photovoltaic projects.

On these transactions, Sonnedix was advised by Raffaelli Segreti (Legal), Duff & Phelps REAG (Technical) as well as RSM Studio Palea Lauri Gerla (Financial and Tax).
