Renewable energy’s potential to transform daily lives is what drives us to build long-term partnerships to deliver a continuous, reliable, and efficient supply of clean electricity to our communities as we work toward our shared purpose: Powering a bright future.

As the year comes to an end, Sonnedix looks back at some of the remarkable milestones we have achieved this 2022:

Sonnedix released its first comic book!

Launched in February 2022, the Eco-3 Team comic series is an initiative of the Sonnedix Sustainability Academy, launched as part of our ESG strategy to educate the problem solvers of tomorrow by providing online educational resources on renewable energy.

The idea of creating the series came from Sonnedix supporting a noble cause. When Sonnedix donated a solar energy system to Menudos Corazones, an organization in Spain that provides a home and support to families of children undergoing hospital treatment for congenital heart disease, our One Team members saw the opportunity to bring joy to the children by creating a comic book.

The comic book brings sustainability-related topics in a fun and meaningful way, exploring greenhouse gases and climate challenges they pose to our society, while showing how solar and renewables are helping to heal our planet.

Entered Polish Market

In early March, Sonnedix embarked on a new adventure. We entered Poland with the acquisition of the solar photovoltaic developer, Sun Power Energy (SPE), by also establishing a new office for Sonnedix in Warsaw with 20 new professionals to our One Team.

The deal also added 1GW of development pipeline across Poland for Sonnedix and served as a springboard for further expansion into a new European market.

ARCO Acquisition: Entry into Wind Energy

Sonnedix marked another milestone by entering the wind space thanks to the acquisition of ARCO, one of the largest independent renewable power producers in Chile, adding both solar and wind assets to our portfolio, as well as welcoming 28 talented professionals that are now part of our Sonnedix Chile office.

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, affirmed: “Sonnedix has been preparing for the next phase of the energy transition – providing green, affordable electricity targeted at our customers’ needs – this acquisition allows us to start to hybridize our generation profile, and is the first step in our journey to become a true customer-oriented, risk-balanced, renewable energy solutions provider”.

Sonnedix Surpassed 500 Team Members!

By early October, we reached another exciting highlight: we achieved more than 500 team members worldwide due to the addition of 30 individuals who joined us as part of the ARCO acquisition.

With more than 10 years of sustainable growth, our Sonnedix One Team comes from various backgrounds and functions, including over 40 nationalities, that come together to deliver clean energy to power households and businesses across the globe, making a positive difference for the communities we partner with, and, ultimately, playing a vital role in the energy revolution.

Sonnedix evolved into a Renewable Energy Producer (REP).

After entering the wind generation space, Sonnedix evolved by transforming from an Independent Power Producer (IPP) to a Renewable Energy Producer (REP) by expanding as a key player in the energy transition.

Sonnedix continues to commit to provide reliable and efficient clean energy by providing sustainable solutions for the world, we want to live in.

Sonnedix 1st Solquest Anniversary.

Last year on November 2nd, we launched our Sonnedix ‘SolQuest’– an immersive learning experience for the problem solvers of tomorrow that combined both play and learning, transporting learners virtually to Sonnedix Atacama Solar in Chile.

After its launch, we've been able to display the platform in five museums across the U.K. and the U.S., reaching over 230,000 learners in its first year of implementation. The launch also coincided with the United National Climate Change Conference (COP26).

Sonnedix Solquest is now available in five languages. Join the virtual experience here.

This year without question has been a tremendous one for Sonnedix, as we continue to grow and position ourselves as a global leader in the Energy Transition

Sonnedix currently has a total capacity of over 8GW, including a development pipeline of almost 6GW, across Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Portugal, Spain, USA, and UK. The company continues to expand its global footprint across OECD countries, through acquisitions and the development of renewable energy projects.
