Madrid, Spain – Sonnedix, the global solar independent power producer (IPP), has completed the acquisition of a 100MW operational portfolio in Spain, from ACS Servicios, Comunicaciones y Energía.
The solar PV portfolio is comprised of two 50MW ground-mounted solar PV plants, located in Castilla la Mancha and Cáceres, which have been in operation since December 2019 and November 2021 respectively. The solar plant in Castilla la Mancha was awarded in the 2017 Spanish auction, while the solar plant in Cáceres will sell energy in the market.
“We wrap up another year of success and Sustainable Growth with this acquisition of 100MW to add to our portfolio in Spain, where we’ve been present since we started in 2009, and where we currently have over 700MW under development." said Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix. “I am very proud of the work our One Team has done to continue expanding the use of solar in the country, and across other OECD countries where we operate. Beyond that, I am excited to continue growing our platform and, with that, continue pushing the Energy Transition forward!"
Sonnedix currently has a total capacity of over 5GW across eight countries, with a development pipeline of more than 2GW. In Spain, this latest acquisition elevates Sonnedix’s total capacity in the country to over 1.2GW, positioning it as a leading player in the solar sector.
On this transaction, Sonnedix was advised by Pérez-Llorca on the legal due diligence and SPA negotiation and PI Berlin on the technical due diligence and ACS was advised by Societe Generale as M&A advisor and Ashurst as legal advisor and SPA negotiation.
