October 6th marks Sonnedix’s 10th year as a solar independent power producer, developing, acquiring and operating solar PV plants for the long term, around the world.
Sonnedix was formed in 2009 by a small team of entrepreneurs, passionate about the solar sector, with the mindset that they could ‘harness the power of the sun to build a bright future’ – for the company, its investors and for future generations.
Sonnedix is owned by institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management and has grown over five-fold in the last four years, expanding its global solar platform to 885MW in operation and a pipeline in excess of 850MW under construction or documentation.
Carlos Guinand, Founder and Chairman of Sonnedix, said:
“We are celebrating 10 years of sustainable growth at a time when solar is at a tipping point, achieving grid parity in many markets. It has been a phenomenal 10 years – and it is just the beginning. At Sonnedix, we are proud that the clean energy we generate helps us to power households and businesses around the globe, to make a positive difference for the communities we partner with, and ultimately, to play a vital role in the energy revolution.”
Axel Thiemann, Chief Executive, joined the company in 2011 and has held various senior leadership positions before being appointed Chief Executive in September 2018.
Axel Thiemann said:
“Today we look back on our track record of expanding the adoption of solar around the world and look forward to accelerating this growth in the future. Our performance and financial strength enable us to build trusted relationships with customers and partners. This success is built on the talent and the drive of the incredible Sonnedix team, and our shared goal of building a climate-safe future. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team and our partners, past and present.”
